What is PhotoFieldKit?
PhotoFieldKit is a professional photography workflow app for iPhone and iPad. It replaces the laptop in your field workflow — letting you import from SD cards or straight from the camera, apply IPTC metadata, edit images, and upload to your server, all from iOS.
Where do I start?
Read the Quick Start Guide. It walks through the whole workflow — creating an event, importing from your card, captioning, editing, and uploading — and covers the most common problems.
Which devices are supported?
PhotoFieldKit requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26. That covers iPhone 11 and later, iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later, iPad (8th generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), and all iPad Pro models from 2018 onward.
My device says the app isn't compatible. What now?
Check Settings → General → Software Update first — if your device can run iOS 26 but hasn't been updated, that's all it takes. If your device can't update to 26, PhotoFieldKit won't run on it. We build against the current OS so the app can use newer frameworks for camera connection, RAW processing, and background transfers, and back-porting those isn't practical.
What's included free, and what needs Pro?
The free tier covers getting photos off the card: SD card scanning, locked photo detection, JPEG import to Files or Photos, basic caption and byline entry at import, and up to three active events with one saved card.
Pro unlocks everything after import — the Library, Meta, Edit, and Upload modules, RAW support, Live Import over USB, Field Templates, Shortcodes, batch renaming, subject masks, and unlimited events, cards, and shortcode sheets.
How do I buy Pro?
Open Settings inside the app and tap Upgrade to Pro. There are three options: a one-time purchase that unlocks Pro permanently, an annual subscription, or a monthly subscription. All three unlock exactly the same features — pick whichever suits how you'd rather pay.
How do I restore a purchase?
If you've reinstalled the app or moved to a new device, open the upgrade screen in Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used originally. If it still doesn't restore, email us and we'll help.
How do I manage or cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. Open the Settings app on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and select PhotoFieldKit. You can change tiers or cancel from there. Cancelling keeps Pro active until the end of the period you've already paid for.
How do refunds work?
All purchases go through the App Store, so refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds directly, but if something isn't working we'd rather fix it — email us first and give us a chance.
Which card formats are supported?
Any SD card or CFExpress card readable by iOS via a compatible card reader. This covers cards from Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, and most other major camera brands.
Can I import without a card reader?
Yes. Live Import (Pro) connects your camera directly over USB and pulls frames off the card without removing it — useful when you're shooting continuously and don't want to swap cards. Filter to locked frames only, apply a template as files land, and the session closes itself when the scan finishes.
What are Shortcodes?
Shortcodes (Pro) let you load a sheet of abbreviations — jersey numbers to player names, a venue code to a full address, anything you retype every match. Type =12= in a metadata field and it expands to the full entry. A code can hold several replacements, selected with =12#2= for the second one. If two loaded sheets define the same code, the app shows you the conflict rather than picking silently.
What does "locked photo detection" mean?
When you protect (lock) photos in-camera, they are flagged as read-only on the memory card. PhotoFieldKit detects this flag and can import only those protected photos, or display all photos and highlight which ones are protected — letting you quickly find your selects.
Does the app require an internet connection?
Import, metadata editing, and photo editing all work fully offline. An internet connection is only required when using the Upload module to transmit files to your SFTP, FTP, or HTTP server.
Are my photos safe?
Yes. PhotoFieldKit processes everything on-device. Your photos are never sent to our servers. Server credentials are stored locally on your device only. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How is this different from the Files app?
The Files app can copy files from a card reader, but it has no locked photo detection, no IPTC metadata editing, no photo adjustments, and no upload module. PhotoFieldKit is purpose-built for the complete field workflow that wire service and sports photographers need on deadline.
Will there be a Mac version?
Yes, a Mac version is in development. We're not announcing a date yet — we'd rather ship it when it's genuinely ready than commit to a deadline. Email us if you'd like to hear when it's close.
